    Fourth of July Celebration

    Wednesday, July 1 though Saturday, July 4, 2009
    The night sky over Downtown Historic Parkville will be a blaze of color as the 2009 Fourth of July Celebration hits its peak.

    Parkville, MO. – Over 20,000 people from around the county will enjoy shopping, dining, carnival rides and a spectacular fireworks display over the Missouri River. Families can pick their favorite spots and watch the fireworks display from their arm chairs.

    The parade on Saturday morning will begin at 63rd Street and Highway 9 at 10:00 am. The Admiral of Parkville, Bill Grigsby will announce the parade with hundreds of people in the procession.

    Midland Empire Shows will host the carnival from July 1 through July 4. Other perks of the festival will be the American Legion's famous hamburgers, strawberry topped funnel cakes, fresh squeezed lemonade and the ever-popular kettle corn.

    The Fourth of July Celebration with its parade, unique carnival and outstanding fireworks display promises to once again be one of Downtown Historic Parkville's great traditions.

    Wind up the summer with live blues and jazz in Historic Downtown Parkville, Missouri.

    The Main Street Parkville Association proudly announces the 41st Annual Parkville Days Riverfest, Friday, August 21 – Sunday, August 23 by the banks of the Missouri River in English Landing Park, Downtown Historic Parkville, Missouri.

    Nationally and internationally acclaimed jazz and blues bands perform each year at this festival. Over 100 arts, crafts, food and commercial booths encircle the festival area. Other attractions include the "Children’s Adventure Land" featuring games, petting zoo, pony rides, family activities, and other children's activities. Plus, the Evans Midland Empire Carnival will supply spinning thrills for the whole family.

    The annual parade is scheduled for Saturday, August 22, 10:00 am in Historic Downtown Parkville, Main Street.

    Admission is free and guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy a relaxing day at English Landing Park. Beer and wine will be available at the festival; but cannot be taken out of the park. Outside alcohol will not be allowed into the park.

    2009 Kansas City Airshow takes off August 22-23

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Get ready for jets, choppers, skydivers and more at the 2009 Kansas City Airshow August 22-23. A 16-year tradition brings people from around the region to Kansas City’s Wheeler Downtown Airport to enjoy the area’s only aviation event of the year.

    The KC Airshow benefits the Mid-America Youth Aviation Association (MAYAA), which awards six scholarships a year to youth interested in pursuing a career in aviation. This year’s college scholarship amount was raised to $2,000 each.

    “We are committed to helping young people realize their dreams of having a career in aviation,” said Ed Noyallis, director of the KC Aviation Expo & Airshow. “Our goal is to raise enough funds to support our educational endeavors and to pique the interest of youth seeking careers in aviation by offering programs such as Aviation Adventure Day, the Young Eagle Flight program, Scout Aviation Merit Badge program and scholarships to Space Camp in Huntsville, Ala.”

    The KC Airshow is MAYAA’s primary fund-raising campaign of the year. Tickets are available now at http://www.kcairshow.com . For a limited time, tickets for adults are $12 each, children under 12 years old are FREE, and active duty military personnel are FREE on Sunday morning.

    About the Kansas City Aviation Expo and Airshow
    Kansas City is home to the Mid-America Youth Aviation Association (MAYAA), a not-for-profit group that provides educational aviation and aeronautical opportunities for children and teens. MAYAA’s goal is to bring together youth and aviation professionals so that young people will have the chance to learn about the careers available in aviation and related fields. This 100 percent volunteer organization produces the KC Aviation Expo & Airshow.     Grab your leash, load up your dog and get ready for a 'DOGAPOLOOZA' of fun times at the 4th annual Paws in the Park Dog Walk Festival benefiting Friends of Parkville Animal Shelter.

    Join emcee's Jim Flink, KMBC Channel 9 Anchor and Mary McKenna, KFKF Country Radio Host as English Landing Park goes to the dogs on Saturday September 19 from 9am until noon.

    Enjoy a fun one-mile walk, contests for dogs and their humans, sponsor and vendor booths, games, delicious food and treats for you and your pup, demonstrations, prizes, raffles, lots of free stuff and much more!

    It's all for a great cause!
    $20.00 pre-registration includes a cool Paws in the Park T-shirt and doggy loot bag. Day of the event registration is $25.00, t-shirts and doggy bags while supplies last. Collect pledge donations and win great prizes!

    FOPAS is a non-profit 501c3, volunteer operated, no-kill animal shelter providing shelter, care and re-homing for dogs and cats in Parkville and the Northland community.
