Parkville, MO-The Parkville Community Development Corporation and all the volunteers of the Blues/Jazz and Fine Arts River Jam planning committee proudly announce the 13th annual Blues/Jazz and Fine Arts River Jam on June 13th and 14th in beautiful English Landing Park, on the banks of the Missouri River in Parkville, MO. In part due to our continued Sponsors and our dedicated volunteers this is the longest running Blues/Jazz festival in the area.

Twelve international, national and regionally acclaimed Blues and Jazz bands will perform at this year’s event. Our line-up features Bryan Lee (the Braille Blue Daddy) from New Orleans, Louisiana, Mary Bridget Davies from Cleveland, Ohio, Trampled Under Foot 2008 International Blues Challenge Winner!, The Dog House Daddys 2008 International Blues Challenge Finalist, Levee Town 2007 International Blues Challenge Finalist, Blue Voodoo from Kirksville, MO, Max Groove, and Fast Johnny Ricker all from Kansas City, and several others.

Whether decorating a new home or just acquiring that “one of a kind” painting we also showcase a juried art show from approximately 40 regional artists whose work will be on display and for sale throughout the festival. Such artists many of whom are returning by popular demand include Parkville’s Rhonda Powers, (fused glass mixed media and enamel pieces),Constance Smith, (oil painting & prints), pottery, acrylics, landscapes and portraits by many others. It’s time to support the Arts by starting or adding to your collection.

Historical Parkville is the destination to spend the day shopping and dining with a wide variety of shops, including clothing, re-sale, antiques /collectibles home furnishing and a wide variety of restaurants to satisfy any appetite. Let’s break the mall habit and enjoy the start of summer supporting the Historical district. “Mom and pop” stores are just part of the scene in Parkville, we’ve added the “kids” too.

A special thank-you to our continued sponsors, North Kansas City Hospital, Kansas City Blue’s Society, KKFI 90.1, North Kansas City Beverage and the many others to follow.

Hi Kristinia of Fountin of Life-
The Jazz Blues and Fine Arts River Jam does not have commercial booths available. We are a juried fine arts show only, but thank you for your interest. Please watch event listing for Parkville Days Riverfest where commercial events are allowed.

Event Is Still On.

Dear Downtowners:

As you know the JazzFest is scheduled for this Friday and Saturday. Because this event is scheduled for English Landing Park, there are concerns about the river levels and possible flooding in the Park. Below is a message (forwarded to me by Deborah Butcher) from Dan Koch about the alternative locations, etc. for the festival.

The JazzFest will go on as scheduled … but the venue may have to be changed (as outlined below). Please help us promote this event with your customers.

...........

Good afternoon. Jazzfest will not be canceled. A decision on where Jazzfest will be held in English Landing Park will be made on Friday morning when Police, Parks and Jazzfest representatives meet to determine which of the below plans work best given the water levels. English Landing Park is in good condition. The low water crossing on McAfee is currently about 3 feet deep and impassable, which is why our location predicament exists. The park itself is fine.

Plan A: In English Landing Park as planned.
Plan B: Layout and location similar to Christmas on the River in Main Street Parking lot.
Plan C: In English Landing Park and use McKeon Stage if it rains heavy on Thursday night and saturates the field.

More information will probably follow, we'll keep you posted as much as possible..

New JazzFest Location

The JazzFest will be held as scheduled. However, instead of being in English Landing Park, it will be set up in the downtown parking lots south of the railroad tracks, similar to the set up we use for Christmas on the River.
