History Of The Soapbox
Soapbox - n.
1. A temporary platform used while making an impromptu or nonofficial public speech.
2. Speaking one's views passionately or self-importantly.
The soapbox has played a very important role in the forming of our great society. During the Revolutionary war members of the local communities would get up in the middle of the town square and voice their concerns of the community. They shared their vision of the future, and the idea of having a life with liberty. Because of such speeches made, once ordinary people of the community participated in events that have shaped the history that we know, and the liberties that we take for granted today. Events such as the Boston tea party, and the speeches made to raise the community to form the Minute Man militia.
In keeping with this tradition, and looking forward into the 21st century, we believe that this is the best way to form the communities ideas and discover the legacy that we can leave for future generations. We hope that this site can bring the community together to share ideas, events, thoughts, and concerns. As JFK stated in a speech, ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country. The same holds true to your local community.
We hope that this provides a positive avenue for sharing of ideas, growth, understanding and prosperity for our local community.
